Must-See Movies

I. love. movies. I always have, probably because I've wanted to be an actress since I was young, and am fascinated with the art of developing characters and stories and drama. Also, because movies are an escape for me. I LOVE going to the theater where, for two hours, I am lost in a story and can forget everything else. You might find me going to a lot of movies during a rough patch in my life ;) I consider myself a pretty good judge of movies, some may not agree because I do not love all genres and disagree with critics often. So...I'm NO expert but I will post my opinions anyway. I also used to want to create theatrical trailers for a career. I still would do that :)

So here is a short list of 20 movies I would say are "essential." They are powerful, smart, intense, emotional, important, compelling, and, most important of all- the acting is exceptional. So maybe if you're looking for a movie to watch, I highly urge you to pick one from the list that you haven't seen. I PROMISE you won't be disappointed. If you are, I will demand an explanation. If you've seen them all, kudos to you! Maybe you can recommend one for me! This is not a complete list nor is it in order in any way (after #1).

1. The Lord of The Rings Trilogy (extended editions) x3 to really appreciate them

2. Gone With The Wind

3. A Few Good Men

4. The Dark Knight

5. Pride and Prejudice (2005)

6. We Are Marshall (the most authentic performance of grief I've ever seen)

7. Forrest Gump

8. It's A Wonderful Life

9. The Wizard of Oz

10. The Sound of Music

11. Spanglish

12. Braveheart

13. One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest

Accents

So... does anyone else do voices when they read stories to kids?? I'm sure they do, but does anyone use an accent? I do accents all the time when I read to Tristan. He loves it. I just bought him Corduroy, which I loved as a kid. I read it to him with an English accent, and he giggles :). I'm not good enough to do it in front of anyone but him though. I also do a Southern accent, and I do a great Elmo. I tried doing a monster for one book tonight though, and he did not like it. He said, "Don't say that! It scary Mommy. Lots of scary." LOL guess I went a little overboard. I know Heidi does All the voices because I roll my eyes at her whenever I'm close. Maybe that's why I don't do it in front of anyone but T.

Can You Believe It??

Sorry the picture above is blurry, my camera's batteries were, of course, dead so I had to use my phone ;)
Anywho... I ate SALMON tonight! As some of you know, I don't NOT eat fish. Or seafood. At all. With the exception of fish and chips and chowder. I would love to eat it, because it's so light and healthy for you. I just didn't grow up with it and never tried it enough to like it. And the smells do not agree with me. This is funny because I used to work at Anthony's, a seafood restaurant mostly, and I loved working there. A bit ago I was forced to choose a side when I was at a dinner where the host didn't know, or forgot I didn't eat seafood, and served ling cod. I didn't want to be rude so, of course I said it was perfectly fine and I would eat it. He had this magical balsamic glaze for it, which was delicious. Between that, yummy wine, and the beautiful presentation of side dishes, I did eat it without a problem.
I was telling Chris this today, and he ran off to the store to test me. He cooked a very nice dinner of salmon, battered sole, asparagus, and potatoes. I used my prized balsamic glaze and it was delicious! So, I am proud to say that...I am growing. I am trying to branch out more.

Are You Scared? :)

My baby boy, the Gremlin. LOL This is what became of me trying to get him to smile for a picture. I tried to show him how to "smile" and this is what he came up with. I think it's hilarious because I sent it to my mom and she thought he was trying to scare her. Of course, as his Mommy, I always only see adorable.

Movie Review!!

I just went to see this today for Heidi's Birthday (Yea!) and we laughed because it wasn't really...a birthday kinda movie.

Remember Me

This movie was really...good. The trailers were misleading enough where you didn't really know what the movie was about. Which I think was smart. I thought it would be a dramatic love story, which it is, but is much more complicated than just the two lovas (Robert Pattinson & Emilie De Ravin-from LOST!). It involves their families and has a smart cast. I particularly loved the little girl who played Robert's little sister Caroline (Ruby Jerins). She was ADORABLE and gave a great performance. The only disappointing thing was that Robert Pattinson's character was like a human Edward. I love Edward though so I didn't mind much. ;)
I would recommend anyone who likes a good love-drama to go see this in the theaters. It's worth it. And please, don't read about it because it does have a very shocking ending, which I think is best for people to discover at the right moment in the movie. I was certainly shocked. Good movie. Go see it.

Do We Look "Together" ??

Apparently we might. Jess and I went out the other night for some best friend time and a drink. Well, she had diet coke and we shared some chicken strips. It was great, until some guy came up to us.

Him: Hi there! I was just wondering, are you guys together?
(Jess and I looked at each other, as if we were obviously sitting next to each other talking and laughing for some other reason than knowing one another)
Jess: Uh, yeah.
Him: No, I mean, "together, together."
Jess: Yes.
Him: Oh, okay. I could tell.

REALLY? You could tell? Maybe because I was sitting facing Jess in the barstool? (Even though the reason I was sitting that way is because my neck hurt so I couldn't turn it to talk to her lol) Maybe because we were not prowling around the bar for guys? Someone please enlighten me. How do you have the nerve to come up to some girls and let that be the first thing out of your mouth? Then proceed to say a couple more obnoxious things before finally getting the hint and walking away. I couldn't tell if he was trying to figure out if we were single, or he was really hoping we were "together"? Take a note guys. If girls say they are "together", it means they want you to GO away. My mind drifts back to when I was 16, and Nicole and I went to Portland to visit Tiffany at college. She took us to a club and when a guy tried to dance with me she stepped in and used the same line to rescue me. And I was grateful. The whole thing was hilarious and made me blush. Thank you Jess, for saving us. :)
